Town attorney honored as law leader
Town Attorney Mario F. Coppola, a partner at the law firm of Berchem,
Moses & Devlin, has been named a “New Leader in the Law” for 2012 by the Connecticut Law Tribune.
The Law Tribune had asked firms across the state to nominate attorneys age 40 and under who stand out as leaders in the legal profession. Nearly 250 attorneys were nominated for the honor, of which 60 were selected, including Coppola and Shelby L. Wilson from Berchem, Moses & Devlin.
Coppola will be listed in a New Leaders in the Law yearbook to be published by the Law Tribune. The leaders were honored at an awards dinner Nov. 9 where the featured speaker was Gov. Dannel Malloy.
Since 2009, Coppola has served as a town attorney for Trumbull. He regularly provides legal representation and services to other municipalities, including the towns of Westport and Easton.
In addition, Coppola, who is a resident of Milford, is active in civic affairs. He currently is chairman of the Greater New Haven Columbus Day Committee’s Board of Directors and serves on the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s Board of Governors.
Coppola practices in the areas of municipal law, land use and zoning, property tax assessment appeals, real estate transactions and general civil litigation. He has held leadership positions with area bar associations and is a frequent speaker at professional seminars in the areas of land use and zoning and property tax assessment appeals.
Berchem, Moses & Devlin is a multi-specialty law practice with offices in Milford and Westport.
