This week, author and illustrator Hannah Perry, owner of the award-winning Shelton art studio The Giggling Pig, joins Denise. She talks about the importance of art for children of all ages and shares her experiences as an entrepreneur.

Hannah Perry grew up in England in a small coastal town. She spent her days working on a farm, taking care of animals and helping children with special needs. After graduating from Beverley College in East Yorkshire, England with a degree in child care she moved to the U.S. with just 15 dollars in her pocket. Hannah was able to draw from these many experiences when she wrote and illustrated her first book, “A New Hat For Mommy.” The book is  about a little girl, whose mother is dealing with cancer.

Hannah, a single mom of two, is an author of children's books and runs a thriving, award-winning, art studio for children.  The Giggling Pig expands lives through creative activity and teaches all levels of art to people of all ages with a focus on children. The studio also offers programs for adults and Hannah shares her plans for the future.

Hannah’s latest book, “Picnics & Puddles: The Adventures Of The Giggling Pig & Friends," is the first in a series of books featuring characters Hannah created, including a pig who is afraid of mud and a Duck whose afraid of water.

Earlier in the show, Denise offers her 'Mindful Minute' of tips.
