BRIDGEPORT — Employees at St. Vincent’s Medical Center began to receive their second doses of the Pfizer vaccine Tuesday.

About three weeks after the first round of vaccines were administered, the second doses are making their way around the state. On Monday, employees at Hartford HealthCare — parent company to St. Vincent’s — first started receiving their second doses. Employees of Yale New Haven Hospital and Stamford Hospital were also among those scheduled to receive a second dose this week.

Miguel Vega, who was among the first St. Vincent’s employees to get the Pfizer vaccine, received his second dose, 21 days after the first shot. In a news release issued by St. Vincent’s, the vaccine is “something to protect our family and friends to get somewhat back to normal.”

In about two weeks, the second dose of the Moderna vaccine will be administered to St. Vincent’s employees.
