St. Joseph to play Ledyard in state playoffs

The St. Joseph High football team is the No. 2 seed for the eight-team Class M state playoffs, and coach Joe Della Vecchia’s 10-1 Cadets will play host to No. 7 Ledyard at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Trumbull High’s McDougall Stadium.

The Colonels (9-2) have defeated Class L No. 5 seed New London (21-3), and have lost to Class LL No. 5 seed NFA (32-14) and to Stonington (28-21), which finished ninth in Class M at 8-3.

The Cadets have wins over Class L No. 1 seed Darien (28-14), Class LL No. 7 seed Fairfield Prep (36-34) and Class LL No. 8 seed Ridgefield (41-12). They lost to Class L No. 3 seed New Canaan.
