With Trumbull High School winning the previous four matches, St. Joseph High School's debate team entered last Wednesday's fifth annual One Book, One Town kick-off event as an underdog and pulled off the upset.

The month-long library program features more than a dozen events based around the novel All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr.

The topic at the March 2 debate was “Is manipulating food and its production is morally acceptable during wartime?”

Trumbull high debaters Ben Hazen, Nikaash Pasnoori, Aravind Sureshbabu and Mike Kenler debated in favor of manipulating food and its production is morally acceptable during wartime, while St. Joseph’s team presented the opposition.

Judge of Probate T.R Rowe was the event’s moderator and made the final decision to crown St. Joes as the debate’s winner.
