The Father’s Club presents Movie Night on Friday, Sept. 19, at 6:30 p.m., showing The Lego Movie in the cafeteria. Popcorn and refreshments are available. Parents can pre-buy popcorn and water combo for $3. They are $2 each at the show. Fliers went home in your child’s mailbox.

Picture Day will be on Tuesday, Sept. 23. Order before picture day on mylifetouch.com and use the Jane Ryan School ID #EJ014703Q0. You must print the receipt and have your child bring it to school on the 23rd. A family plan is offered to parents who have three or more children attending the Trumbull Public preschool, elementary and middle schools. The first two children pay full price; all others in the family receive the same package for free. Every child will be photographed for school records; therefore all children must return his/her envelope on picture day. If you do not wish to purchase photographs, put an X across the form with your child’s name on it and return it anyway. If you can help volunteer on Picture Day, contact Jayne Macintyre.

Don’t forget Jane Ryan’s juice pouch collection — you can send them in to school emptied completely without the straw and flattened. Every classroom has a collection basket. The main recycling bin is located in the cafeteria. To date, we’ve collected 27,802 juice pouches. They’re shipped and recycled into useful items, such as backpacks, pencil cases and purses. We’ve also earned money for our school.

The book drive is still underway for gently used books, grade K-8. Books are donated to Read to Grow, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting early literacy. A collection box is located in front of the media center for the entire year. Any questions, contact Mrs. Beccaria. Last year, Jane Ryan collected 1,904 books. No magazines, textbooks, outdated nonfiction, encyclopedia sets or coloring books.
