Frenchtown School

School Store will be open twice a month on Tuesdays during lunch. It will be open on Oct. 28.

Some classes will have Visitation Day tomorrow, Friday, Oct. 17, in the afternoon. Teachers have sent home individual invitations with the specific dates and times that you are invited to observe your child at work.

Fathers’ Club Movie Night is Friday,Oct. 17. A flyer was sent home with the info.

On Tuesday, Oct. 21 Frenchtown will observe our seventh annual Democracy Day. The program begins at 9 a.m., with a reception to welcome our guests. There will be an assembly for fourth and fifth grade students. The candidates will speak about the importance of voting, their histories and candidacies. Ms. Gloria Francesconi will speak about the history of The League of Women Voters and the role it plays in educating the public about our democracy. All are welcome to attend.

Frenchtown PTA’s Halloween Spooktacular Friday, Oct. 24. Each ticket is $5 for PTA members and $6 for non-members. Children under 3 are free. Deadline to purchase tickets is tomorrow, Oct. 17. No tickets will be sold at the door. There are two sessions – 5:30-7:30 p.m., and 7:30-9 p.m.

Frenchtown is once again be participating in the Stop and Shop A+ Program. Registration for the 2014-15 school year has begun; our school ID is 06238. You need to register your Stop and Shop card at Earn points while you shop that will equate back to dollars for our school. Contact Mrs. Weiss in the main office and she will input your number for you.

Jane Ryan School

The Kids Offering Our Love (KOOL) fall clothing drive is from Oct. 20-24. Boxes are set up in Jane Ryan entrances to collect new and gently fall and winter used clothes. All clothes will be donated to Trumbull Headstart, housed at Trumbull Early Childhood Education Center (located at Middlebrook Elementary School). Volunteers are needed to deliver and sort clothes. For delivering clothes, we need some parents and kids to load and unload cars from Jane Ryan to Middlebrook on Oct. 24 after school. On Oct. 27, we need volunteers to help sort and fold at Headstart at 9 a.m. Sign up to volunteer at or contact Anne Marie Martini with questions.

The Student Council Cookie Dough fund-raiser is running from Oct. 14-28. No door to door sales. Make checks payable to Jane Ryan Elementary School. No cash. Forms went home in the kids’ backpacks on Oct. 10. Return envelopes with payment and order form by Tuesday, Oct. 28. Orders will be delivered at a date to be announced prior to Thanksgiving.

Madison Middle School

Thursday, Oct. 16: Late turn in day for PTA Magazine Drive - last day to turn in sales.

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards are open to students in grades 5-12 who have participated in a volunteer activity within the past year. Honors are granted at the local, state and national level. Top honorees earn cash prizes and all-expense-paid trips to Washington, D.C. for four days of special recognition events. Applications can be found on the counter in the counseling office.
