Rotary dodgeball supports those in need
Sixteen teams came out this year to support the 6th annual Trumbull Rotary Dodgeball Tournament, helping to raise $5,000 for the Bridgeport Rescue Mission.
Hundreds of players and fans representing companies, clubs, church groups and neighborhood families had a fun night ducking, diving and dodging. In the end, the Honey Badgers held on to defeat the Dodgefathers to take home the gold medal. Rookie team New Life played a spirited game to earn the bronze.
Key sponsors included Standard Motor Products, Hi-Tech Packaging, Vazzy’s Restaurant. The Trumbull Rotary Club is particularly grateful for the generosity of Peter Corbett and the entire staff of Insports Trumbull, who hosted the event in their new, state-of-the art, 100,000 square foot facility.
“We’re excited that so many people came out to participate in this year’s tournament,” notes Holly Sutton-Darr, president of the Trumbull Rotary. “And we’re proud that we could help those in our community who are in need of shelter, food and clothing. So many families in Bridgeport live below the poverty line, and a hot meal and warm place to sleep can provide hope for a better future.”
