Police: EJ News owners targeted in home invasion

Two masked suspects ransacked a Trumbull home Friday night that belongs to the owners of EJ News in the Westfield Trumbull Mall. The suspects reportedly robbed the son, who was staying at his parents’ home while they were on vacation, according to Trumbull Police.

Police were called to 69 Beech St. after 11 p.m. Friday, for a report of a home invasion.

According to the victim, he had closed his parents’ business, EJ News, and upon returning home, was confronted by two masked suspects, who were waiting for him.

“In addition to taking the night deposit in cash and checks, the suspects allegedly ransacked other rooms in the house looking for more money,” Police said in a release. “The suspects eventually fled to a waiting vehicle operated by a third suspect.”

Police believe the business owner was targeted and that this was not a random act.

No one was injured in the incident. The total amount of money taken is unknown at this time.

Investigation is ingoing, Police said.
