The Nichols Garden Club is preparing for its annual Holiday Boutique. After decades of joy, the loss of the beautiful pine tree on Nichols Green during Superstorm Sandy has had a huge impact on the community. As a result, a new tree will be planted.

In the meantime, the Nichols Garden Club rescued as many as two truckloads of greens to be used in mailbox covers, greens and arrangements. It will be particularly meaningful for the town for Nichols to have a small piece of the landmark tree.

The club will have fresh decorated wreaths of various sizes, fresh swags, fresh centerpieces in unique containers, pre-lit decorated table-top Christmas trees and the ever popular fresh mailbox covers.

The Boutique will be at the Starkweather House, located at 1773 Huntington Tpke, in Nichols on Friday, Dec. 7, from noon-8 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Since the mailbox covers high in demand, the club will begin making them Saturday, Nov. 24. Anyone who would like to get a mailbox cover early can stop by the NIA House anytime from Saturday, Nov. 24 through the rest of that week.
