Nichols Garden Club members have been gathering each day since Thanksgiving at the Starkweather House on Huntington Turnpike to make mailbox covers, wreaths, and centerpieces — something they have done for a quarter of a century and what has become a holiday ritual for the club.

The mailbox covers cost $25 and are all unique, although they are based on the original design of the club founder Jean Horsey. There will also be many other beautifully crafted holiday items for sale during the holiday boutique, held Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5.

Hours are noon to 8 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Starkweather House, 1773 Huntington Tpke., Trumbull.

After the sale the members will use their talents to decorate the streets of Nichols by hanging hand-crafted street swags along Huntington Turnpike.
