After a chilly morning, temperatures continue to rise during the afternoon Tuesday with sunny skies and occasional gusts of wind, according to the National Weather Service.

After a day of on-and-off rain showers Monday, Tuesday brought a drier day with temperatures across the state in the high 30s and low 40s in the morning. Skies were partly cloudy in the morning, but have since cleared up. The remainder of the week, and into the weekend, Connecticut is expected to see mostly sunny skies.

The temperature on Tuesday is expected to hit a high around 65 degrees, with wind gusts up to about 20 mph possible. As night falls, skies are forecast to stay mostly clear as the temperature drops to a low around 53 degrees.

Wednesday will bring another day of sunny skies, with the high forecast to reach about 73 degrees. It’ll be mostly clear at night, with the temperature dropping to around 52 degrees.

Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast for Thursday, with a high temperature around 72 degrees. There will be a light breeze in the morning. Thursday night it’ll be partly cloudy with a low temperature around 55 degrees.

The forecast for Friday indicates another day of mostly sunny skies, with a high around 70 degrees. The temperature will drop to a low around 50 degrees by night, with mostly cloudy skies.

Rain might sneak in over the weekend, according to the current weather service forecast.

There’s a 40 percent chance of showers on Saturday, with mostly cloudy skies and high around 63 degrees. It’ll be mostly cloudy Saturday night, with a low around 45 degrees.

On Sunday, the forecast calls for partly sunny skies and high near 60 degrees. There’s a 30 percent chance of rain showers at night, with partly cloudy skies and a low around 40 degrees.
