Louis J. Engeldrum of Monroe passed away on November 18, 2012, he was 74. Although he was fighting cancer for the last year, his death came suddenly and unexpectedly at home on Sunday morning.

Louis was born on June 22, 1938 in Jamaica NY, the only child of Louis H. and Mary (Tamplin) Engeldrum.

He was a graduate of Bishop Loughlin High School (Brooklyn), St. John's University (NY) and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Louis was the loving husband of Geraldine P. (Lynch) Engeldrum for over 48 years and together they raised eight children.

He spent the last 35 years as a resident of Monroe and was a long-time employee of the City of Bridgeport Board of Education Business Department.

He will be remembered for his dry wit and for being an avid sports fan, especially his St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants and New York Rangers.

He leaves behind son Thomas of Glendale NY, daughter Elaine and husband David Givens of Alpharetta GA, son Peter and wife Traci of Shelton, son Daniel of Monroe, son Matthew of Trumbull, daughter Laura and husband Richard Tutoli of Middlebury, daughter Sheila and husband Brennan Downes of Gales Ferry and son Kenneth of Greenville, NC. He adored his eight beautiful grandchildren and will be sorely missed by, Owen and Jillian Engeldrum, Aidan and Sarah Givens, Michael and Julia Tutoli, Colin and Liam Downes.

Friends and family are invited to meet Friday, November 23, 2012 from 4 to 8 pm at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave. Shelton, CT on Saturday, November 24, at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Moosehill Rd., Monroe, CT.
