Haircuts benefit family displaced by fire
Hairstylists with Helping Hands will hold a benefit for the Corbesato Family Sunday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Lane's Hair Designers, 4514 Main St., Bridgeport.
P.J. and Nicole Corbesato of Shelton have two daughters, both with a serious illness. On Oct. 19, they lost all of their belongings to a fire.
The Corbesatos have two daughters, 2-year-old Isabella and Ava, who is nearly 1 year old. Both girls have Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, a rare congenital heart defect in which the left ventricle of the heart is severely underdeveloped. The treatment for this condition is a series three of palliative surgeries. These surgeries are not a cure, but rather enable the body to survive with a single ventricle. If this fails, the only remaining option is a heart transplant.
This past August, Bella had her third open heart surgery. There have been some setbacks, but she's doing ok at the moment. Ava has had two surgeries and will have her third in a year or so.
There is a $25 minimum for a wash and cut Sunday. Each patron will be entered into a drawing. There will also be a bake sale.
Donations can also be made by search Corbesato House Fund at www.giveforward.com.
