"Together We Can Do More” is the theme for the Kennedy Center’s Awards Dinner and Annual Meeting, Thursday, April 25, at the Holiday Inn, 1070 Main Street, Bridgeport.

The social hour will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the dinner, annual meeting, and community, consumer and employer awards at 7 p.m.

The keynote speaker will be Governor Dannel P. Malloy, who will receive The Kennedy Center Vision Award.

Governor Malloy will be recognized as the 2013 winner of The Kennedy Center Vision Award. This prestigious award is given to an individual who has the vision to elevate the human consciousness to believe in the potential of all people.

Some of the past award recipients have included Mary Higgins Clark, Frank Deford and former Governor M. Jodi Rell of Connecticut. In addition, annual community, consumer and employer awards will be presented.

“The Kennedy Center is proud to honor Governor Malloy for his advocacy on behalf of people with disabilities throughout Connecticut,” said Martin D. Schwartz, President and CEO of The Kennedy Center headquartered in Trumbull, CT.  “At the same time, we want to recognize area employers who have hired our clients as well as tout the achievements of our clients with disabilities who have accomplished so much in the community and workplace.  Our mission is to promote the empowerment of these individuals to achieve their optimal participation and inclusion and in the community with both dignity and confidence.”

Co-chairs of the Annual Meeting are Rachelle Mitchell of Milford and Mary Brown of Bridgeport.
