Free admission to Discovery Museum for Veterans and their families
The Discovery Museum and Planetarium (4450 Park Avenue, Bridgeport) celebrates Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11. Free admission for Veterans, active service members, and their families. (Must provide ID).
New photos in the NASA exhibition, “The Sun As Art,” will be showcased. The collection consists of full-color, high-resolution images of the sun; several pieces have an interactive component where visitors using smart phones can scan a QR code and watch the particular solar event that inspired the finished image.
The film “Journey to the Stars,” narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, will be shown. The Westport Astronomical Society will treat also all visitors to Solarscope viewings of the sun to further enrich the experience.
Discovery Museum’s full-dome Henry B. DuPont Planetarium will feature shows for different age groups and interests, including “Dawn of the Space Age,” and “The Little Star That Could.” Other attractions include the new, interactive “Take Flight” exhibit and “Connecticut Inventions and Innovations.”
