Craft corn husk dolls - for ages 7 and older
Children 7 years and older are invited to learn how to craft corn husk dolls on Saturday, Nov. 16, 10 a.m.-noon. The Sarah Riggs Humphreys-Mary Silliman Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is celebrating National American Indian Heritage Month with this session at the Shelton Community Center, 41 Church St.
The cost is $15 and includes supplies.
Wendy Mawhinney, DAR member, teacher, re-enactor, and children’s educational coordinator of the Trumbull Historical Society, will lead the craft session. Mawhinney teaches Colonial and Native American programs to children.
Space is limited. To reserve a seat for your child, call Mawhinney at 203-261-4662 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
The DAR perpetuates the memory and spirit of the men and women who won American independence. The group also helps maintain historic state properties. Any woman 18 and older who can prove an ancestor served in the American Revolution is a prospective member.
