Rita Saboe, a resident of Trumbull for nearly 60 years, celebrated her 90th birthday last weekend with 65 family and friends at St. Joseph Manor lodge. Festivities included Rita-centric Jeopardy, sing-a-longs, excellent fare, lively music and several moving tributes from attendees. Rita is the wife of the late Michael S. Saboe and the matriarch of eight children, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She has been and continues to be active in the community and in her church, St. Theresa’s parish. A few of her accomplishments include teaching marriage enrichment, being active in Family Life Commission of the Diocese of Bridgeport, working as a travel agent at The Travel Hut, teaching sewing at Mercy Learning Center, reading to the blind over the local radio and she is currently historian for the Trumbull Women’s Club. Rita’s motto for living: “This above all, to thine own self be true.”
