Campbell awarded Rotary honor
Rotary International’s District 7980 held its annual Norman K. Parsells Award Luncheon to honor outstanding dedication to service. One member was selected from each of the ten Rotary Clubs in the district to receive the prestigious award.
The award was named after a late member of Rotary who demonstrated Rotary’s ideal, “Service Above Self.” Norm Parsells, a former Rotarian in the district, was well known for his dedication to service to the community and for his unselfish acts and humble acts to help others.
This year, the Trumbull Rotary Club selected Byron Campbell to be recognized and receive the Norman K. Parsells Award of Service. Byron has been a community leader for years, particularly through his involvement in his church, charities, Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, Trumbull Cable Advisory Board, Trumbull Rotary and Trumbull AYSO. Byron has served on many boards and logged hundreds of volunteer hours. A Rotarian for just four years, Byron jumped right in serving along side his fellow Rotarians at many events. He currently co-chairs the communications board and is the webmaster for the club.
Byron is the co-owner of Firelight Media Group, a full service Digital Media design and Production company in Trumbull, with over 25 years of expertise in audio, video, multimedia and web projects. He has received many industry awards, including Telly’s and Emmy’s. A proud moment for Byron and his wife Kelly was receiving the Congregational Coalition on Adoption Institute’s 2006 Angels in Adoption Award for their commitment and service to children seeking forever family. In his free time, Byron enjoys family time, coaching his kids and golf. Byron and Kelly have four children Jonathan, Ryan, Monet and Faith.
