The St. Joseph High boys hockey team opened its season with a 2-1 victory over Guilford High on Wednesday.

The Cadets’ Zach Usinger scored the lone goal in the second period, off an assist from Bryan Canfarotta in the second minute, to tie the game at 1.

Andrew Gore tallied the go-ahead goal at 3:17 of the third, with Canfarotta again garnering the assist.

Marc Van Etten made 21 saves for the Cadets, who out shot the Indians by a 27-22 margin.
