The St. Joseph High football team defeated Trumbull High, 55-20, on Thanksgiving Eve at McDougall Stadium.

Coach Joe Della Vecchia's team improved to 8-2 and secured a berth in the Class M state playoffs, where the Cadets could play at Joel Barlow on Tuesday night once all the points are distributed.

Coach Bob Maffei's Trumbull team finished its season at 5-5.

Jordan Vazzano was the Cadet MVP, as he threw for four first-half touchdowns to give St. Joseph a 42-0 halftime lead.

Ryan Pearson was Trumbull MVP.

Denzel Moscova (28 yards), Mark Hirschbeck (42 yards), Kyron Crawford (10 yards) and Jake Pelletier (46 yards) were on the receiving end of the scoring passes.

Ryan Moran recovered a fumble in the end zone.

Mike Pulaski scored on a one-yard run, Crawford from 12 yards out, and Pat Doyle on a one-yard run.

Pelletier was perfect on six PATs.

For Trumbull, Pearson scored on a 43-yard run and Marc Cesare scored on runs of 65 and 64 yards.

Quentin Brunetti had a two-point conversion run.
