While St. Joseph controlled the tempo of the first half of Friday's county championship, the New Canaan Rams dominated the second half on their way to winning the school's seventh FCIAC title.

New Canaan opened the fourth quarter inside the red zone. After an unsuccessful third down, Peter Swindell came out for a 25-yard FG attempt that was pushed back by a Rams penalty to a 30-yard attempt that missed wide.

On the next Rams possession, Cascione drove the team down to inside the 10. After a sack, Swindell came out and split the uprights with a 33-yard field goal to put New Canaan up 24-14.

After a St. Joe's punt, the Rams were able to run several minutes off the clock before punting to the St. Joe's 14 yard line with less than six minutes to play.

The Rams would score again on another Cascione TD run to put the game out of reach of St. Joe's.

Mufasa Abdul-Basir did make a great 50-yard run for a touchdown with 3:36 to play. But it wasn't enough.
