‘A Winter Ballet’ more than a holiday show
Delivering a dose of gratitude and true sense of holiday spirit, local dancers and singers from the Trumbull-based Performing Arts Center of Connecticut will present A Winter Ballet on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 1 and 6 p.m. at Bridgeport's Klein Memorial Auditorium.
Produced in partnership with the Klein Memorial Foundation, all proceeds will be donated to the Love Life Foundation and St. Vincent's Special Needs.
Throughout the year PACC traditionally produces concerts to benefit local, national and international nonprofit organizations.
A Winter Ballet will, for the first time, be more than a celebration of the holiday season, said PACC Executive Director Catherine E. LaChioma.
"It will represent the true meaning of the season of giving," LaChioma said. "Our entire faculty and student body are passionate about sharing their love of the arts to help make their community a better place."
Given the two recent major storms that wreaked havoc on many communities, Fairfield parent Jen Valentine said, this is a great time to reach out to others.
"This is the time of year to pause and count our blessings," Valentine said. "Giving of oneself rewards not only the recipient but also the giver. During the holidays, which can be particularly difficult for some, these young people can spread joy and give people a little hope."
Love Life Foundation was established by Mark and Jackie Appelberg of Trumbull following the death two years ago of their 15-year-old daughter, Kristin.
