Two state parks have filled to capacity on Sunday.

The 250-car parking lot at Squantz Pond State Park in New Fairfield reached its limit around 11:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Mount Tom State Park in Litchfield closed to new cars at 12:30 p.m., according to Connecticut State Parks’ Twitter.

The swimming area at Squantz reopened on Saturday after being closed Friday when indicator bacteria was found in the water. This indicator bacteria is one of the tools used by public health and environmental protection authorities to evaluate the potential for contamination of water.

That was the first time the swimming spot had closed this season, although the parking lot frequently fills up on weekends.
