With the sun in the sky and temperatures high, it’s no surprise that several state parks had reached capacity and were closed to traffic by Sunday afternoon.

According to the Connecticut State Parks Twitter account, Gardner Lake State Park and boat launch in Salem;Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamdenin East Lyme; Miller's Pond State Park in Durham; Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford; Wadsworth Falls State Park in Middletown and Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden had all hit capacity by 2 p.m. Sunday.

UPDATE, 3:50 p.m.: Pattaconk Lake State Recreation Area in Chester was added to the list of parks full to capacity and closed to new visitors.
