Almost six months after Wahlburgers closed its location at the Westfield Trumbull mall, the celebrity-fronted burger chain has opened its long-awaited restaurant at MGM Springfield in Springfield, Mass. The casual dining concept founded by actors and musicians Mark and Donnie Wahlberg and their brother Paul, the chain's executive chef, launched in 2011 in their native Massachusetts and now has restaurants in 20 states, Canada and Germany. The menu features burgers, chicken and fish sandwiches, salads with chicken and salmon, loaded tater tots, fries, onion rings and "Mom's Favorites," including bacon mac and cheese and chili. Wahlburgers announced the Springfield location in a press conference with Mark Wahlberg present, on the day the resort casino opened its doors in August 2018. The restaurant was initially set to open in late 2019. Mark, Donnie and Paul were also the stars of the A&E "Wahlburgers" reality show, which ran for 10 seasons, along with their mother, Alma. In a nod to the Wahlberg matriarch, who died April 18 at 78, the Springfield location includes a special "Alma's table" with family photos. Wahlburgers opened at Westfield Trumbull in October 2017 under franchisee John Sullivan, and it was the only location in Connecticut until its closing in December 2020. Mark Wahlberg paid a visit to the Trumbull restaurant in June 2019. The Springfield Wahlburgers is at 1028 Main St., on the corner of Union Street. It's open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. wahlburgers.com\/mgmspringfield.
