A New London chef is among the “Young Guns” on the next season of Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell’s Kitchen,” which premieres May 31.

Morgana Vesey, currently a chef at Stonington’s Water Street Cafe, is a contestant on the 20th season of the FOX series, which brings together 18 chefs all aged 23 years or younger at the start of the competition. The season was shot in Las Vegas.

“Each week, the competition will get more intense, as these ‘Young Guns’ are put through rigorous culinary challenges - reaping high stakes rewards and punishments...But only those who possess the right combination of ingredients will continue in the competition, until one is named winner,” the website reads.

The grand prize winner will earn a head chef position at Gordon Ramsay Steak at Paris Las Vegas. In a promotional clip, Ramsay says the “Young Guns” version “has to be one of the most exciting seasons ever.”

Vesey, who according to FOX was 21 when the season was shot, was previously the sous chef at Canggio in Norwich, a modern Peruvian restaurant.

“I definitely have people who are older than me under me, and a lot of people don’t respect me; my age shouldn’t matter, my food does,” she said in a video introducing the 18 contestants.

When Ramsay tells her she “looks 16,” she replies, “I have a baby face, but I have an old soul.”

“Hell’s Kitchen Young Guns” premieres May 31 at 8 p.m. EST. fox.com/hells-kitchen.
