Dave StewartThere was plenty of movement in the Connecticut Wresting Online poll this week as the conference championships included several repeat titles, and one historic victory.
Fairfield-Warde made the biggest upward move, jumping three three spots up the ladder to No. 3 after winning the FCIAC championship for the first time since 2010. The Mustangs, who had medalists in every weight class, kept runner-up Danbury from the conbference title for just the second time since 1987.
Xavier remained in the poll's No. 1 spot for the sixth consecutive week following a dominating performance in the SCC tourmament. The Falcons, who earned 15 of the 17 first-place votes this week, had nine weight class champions, and more than doubled the point total of runner-up Fairfield Prep.
New Milford held at No. 2 and had one first-place vote. The Green Wave won the SWC championship for the third straight season and has 14 titles in the last 16 tournaments.
East Hartford, the CCC champion, held at No. 4, with Danbury, the FCIAC runner-up, falling two spots to No. 5.
Entering the top 10 this week are No. 8 Windham, which won the ECC championship, and No. 9 Ludlowe, which defeated Warde for the FCIAC East title last Tuesday and finished third in the conference tournament.
