The GameTimeCT Top 10 Boys Lacrosse Poll (June 1): The tournament stage is set

Three championship games had the only apparent effects on the GameTimeCT Boys Lacrosse Top 10 Poll, and one did more than the other. 

Though the only games played since the voters last checked in were 10 conference finals, SCC champion Fairfield Prep hopped over Ridgefield into fourth place heading into the CIAC tournament. SCC runner-up Cheshire fell below idle New Canaan into eighth. 

Darien remained a unanimous No. 1 after defeating No. 2 Wilton for the FCIAC championship. Staples was next at No. 3, and in fact the top three came back with identical point totals to last week's. 

After the Jesuits and Tigers, Greenwich held on at No. 6. New Canaan and Cheshire flip-flopped their point totals to change places. 

Hand remained ninth, and Fairfield Ludlowe remained 10th. 

SWC champion Weston and CCC Central Division champion Glastonbury remained the only two other schools receiving votes, and both picked up a little more support this week than last, Weston moving two points behind Ludlowe.

2. WILTON

The Bottom Line: The Warriors would've been the third seed in Class L if Wilton had about 50 more boys enrolled last year. (Appears that would've dragged New Milford to M, so only Ridgefield is otherwise affected.)

3. STAPLES

The Bottom Line: A Ridgefield rematch would be in the semifinals.

4. FAIRFIELD PREP

The Bottom Line: Few of these "Division-II type school/co-op has a nice year, wins a play-in game, and in the first round will visit... oh" stories end well for either side, but these are the cards they're dealt.

This Week: Class L first round, Wednesday vs. Southington, 5:30 p.m.
The Bottom Line: When Ridgefield was the 14th seed last year, it hosted Southington -- coincidentally seeded 19th, like this year -- in the qualifying round. A 20-1 win began the Tigers' run of the table.

6. GREENWICH

The Bottom Line: Darien awaits the winner of Cardinals-Spartans. Greenwich has played the Blue Wave tough twice in two weeks.

7. NEW CANAAN

The Bottom Line: The only top-10 team on the road on Wednesday visits a team that it defeated handily early in the season. We'll see what two months can do.

The Bottom Line: Tough time to be banged up, especially with the half of the bracket the Rams have.

The Bottom Line: The Falcons were 5-0 against non-FCIAC opponents in the regular season.
