The annual Nichols Improvement Association (NIA) Halloween parade and Jack-O-Lantern contest will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26, at 3 p.m. The Nichols Fire Department truck will lead the marchers from the Nichols United Methodist Church parking lot around the NIA green to the front of the Starkweather House for awards and refreshments. Prizes will be awarded for funniest, prettiest, most original, and scariest in each age group: Infant-preschool, K-2nd and 3rd-6th grade. Costume design by the children is encouraged and will be taken into account during the judging. Contact Heidi Gamma at firstname.lastname@example.org or Annie Muoio email@example.com to volunteer. About 6-8 teen volunteers are needed. Members must park in the NIA parking lot and then walk over to the church parking lot. For the Jack-O-Lantern contest, all decorated pumpkins should be brought to the NIA Starkweather House by 2:45 p.m. Name and age should be printed on paper and attached to the bottom of the pumpkin.
