Informational workshop for pre-retires and general public

The AAA Southern New England Motor Club will conduct an informational workshop for pre-retires and the general public on Monday, April 21 at 6 p.m., at the Trumbull Public Library.

This workshop ‘Maximize Your Social Security Benefits,” will help participants learn how to make the most out of Social Security and retirement. David Cowan, endorsed AAA retiree advisor, will discuss how to navigate retirement challenges, ways to safeguard retirement savings and how to increase Social Security benefits. Ages 60-66 will benefit most.

Garden Design Made Easy topic of meeting

Deborah Kent, landscape designer and garden coach, will be the featured speaker when the Long Hill Garden Club meets on Monday, April 28 at the Trumbull Library. The meeting begins at 11:30 a.m., and the program will start at 12:45 p.m.

Her topic “Garden Design Made Easy” will give a step-by-step method used in designing a garden. She will show, through scores of photos, the main principals of design and how to get your plans on paper. Then Kent will add the four seasons of interest to the design. She is a certified Master Gardener.

American Assoc. of University women meet

On Wednesday, April 30 at 7 p.m., the Bridgeport Area Branch American Association of University Women will meet at the Trumbull Library. Guest speaker will feature Dr. Michelle Leigh Farrell, Assistant Professor of Modern Languages at Fairfield University, speaking about her research on women working in the Cuban film industry, and her trip there this Spring with a group of Fairfield students.

Oil painting demonstration

CT Classic Arts will be meeting on Thursday, May 1 at 1:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Trumbull Library.

The program artist will be Christine Goldbach, a faculty member at the Silvermine Art Center in New Canaan, who will demonstrate an oil painting using a palette knife. Meet and Greet begins at 1 p.m., with the demo at 1:30.

Meetings are open to the public with a $3 fee.

History of Bigelow Tea presentation

The Trumbull Woman’s Club will meet on Monday, May 5, at 11 a.m., in the Community Room of the Trumbull Library, 33 Quality St. All women age 18 and over are invited to attend.

Janned Sarrano will present a history of the Bigelow Tea Company and tell of the health benefits of tea.
