Author Talk with David Lee Tucker and Stone Wall Freedom: The Slave — Rescheduled to Tuesday, May 6, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Join David Lee Tucker as he celebrates the release of Stone Wall Freedom: The Slave, the final book of the Stone Wall Freedom trilogy. This fictional trilogy is inspired by the beauty and rich Revolutionary history of Block Island. Books for purchase and signing. Register.

Non-fiction discussion group: Brown bag lunch meeting — Wednesday, May 7, noon-1 p.m. Director Sue Horton’s group. Bring lunch. May’s title is The Astronaut Wives Club, by Lily Koppel. As America’s Mercury Seven astronauts were launched, television cameras focused on the brave smiles of their young wives, and their lives changed. Messy Mystery II — Thursday May 1, 5-5:45 p.m. Stories and crafts for older kids. You never know what you will hear, or what you will make, but you can be sure that it will be fun. Grades 3-5. Register separately for each session.

Family Chess Club — Saturday, May 3, 10 a.m.-noon. Selva Selvarajan’s Family Chess Club will assemble on the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends). Chess learners and experts from 4-94 are welcome. Meet in the Children’s Section with your own board, or come to watch.
