Teen volunteer training — Have fun helping us at Children’s Summer Reading. Saturday, June 21, 11 a.m.-noon. Learn how to help the Children’s department this summer, having fun with the kiddies, and using the time as community service if you wish. Pizza served. Register, required for pizza count.

Job search strategies — Career Development Workshop. Thursday, June 26, 9:30-11:30 a.m. The DOL returns this morning for an interactive workshop to develop new and creative methods to enhance job search techniques. Led by a career specialist. Maximum, 15. Register. Free.

Family Chess Club — Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m.-noon. Selva Selvarajan’s Family Chess Club will assemble on the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends). Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children’s Section with your own board, or come to watch.

Basic drawing workshop for adults — Saturday, June 21, 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Enjoy a day of artistic inspiration, with art instructor Ed Rosado. Explore drawing basics with pencils, pastels, and charcoals. Materials provided; but bring your own supplies if you wish. Register. Maximum, 12.

Baby’s morning out — Monday, June 23, 10:30-11:15 a.m. This program begins with simple finger plays and stories followed by free play and socialization for both babies and adults. Age 0-23 months. Drop in. Child or caregiver Trumbull resident.
