Racing the Seas — with yacht racing expert Jay Kiley. Thursday, Oct. 17, 6:30-8 p.m. Intrigued by the TV coverage of Americas’ Cup sailing races this summer? If so, come to our presentation by racing expert and Trumbull resident Jay Kiley. Jay will share stories and experiences racing ‘super yachts’ over 80 feet in length. Free. Details online. Autumn concert series — Harmony on the Sound (HOTS) performs Barbershop. Tuesday, Oct. 22, 7:30- 8:30 p.m. to share their harmony favorites and Broadway tunes. HOTS is a member of Sweet Adelines International, which consists of regional women’s groups dedicated to 4-part, barbershop-type, a cappella harmonies. Free. Drop in.

Family Chess Club — Saturday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m.-noon. Selva Selvarajan’s club will assemble on the first and third Saturdays (except for long weekends). Chess learners and experts from 4 to 94 are welcome. Meet in the Children’s Section with your own board, or come to watch.

Messy Mystery I — Monday, Oct. 21, 4-4:45 p.m. A special program for children in grades K-2. What will you create? What will you hear? Who knows? But it will be fun. Register. Free. Trumbull residents.

Storytime for 2’s — Tuesday, Oct. 22, 9:30-10 a.m. Toddlers bring your caregivers. Stories, music and an easy craft round out a fun morning. Register. Children/caregivers Trumbull residents.

Storytime for 2 1/2-3 years old — Tuesday, Oct. 22, 10:30-11 a.m., and Wednesday, Oct 23, 9:30-10 a.m. Eye-catching books, fingerplays, music, and a themed craft make for a wonderful learning experience for our young pre-readers and their caregivers. Register. Child/caregivers Trumbull resident.

Runaway Man — Talk by Conn. mystery writer David Handler. Saturday, Oct. 19, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. If you love a great mystery with lots of good humor in it, Handler discusses his latest book, Runaway Man. In this book he is introducing a new pair of sleuths. He will also discuss his other acclaimed mystery books and chat. Q and A. Register. Free.

Baby’s morning out — Monday, Oct. 21, 10:30-11:15 a.m. Monday mornings babies interact while hearing simple stories, songs, rhymes. After that we will have 30 minutes of play time with toys and other babies. Plus parent/caregivers have time to meet and socialize; so it is really your morning out too. For ages 1-23 months.
