Students enrolled at the Kumon Math and Reading Center of Trumbull are proving that hard work and daily practice pays off.

As a result of attending weekly sessions, several students made significant academic improvements and are studying above their school grade level. Students received milestone awards like Mastery over Multiplication and division level at third grade level, C by 3; fraction mastery by fourth grade level, E by 4; and pre-algebra by fifth grade, G by 5.

Students also achieved awards for reaching 1000+, 3000+ and 5000+ worksheets.

An award ceremony on Nov. 13 honored the academic successes of local Kumon students. Kumon’s individualized approach helps children progress by ability rather than age or grade. In the U.S., 350,000 students from preschool to high school are developing advanced skills and confidence through Kumon’s Method of Learning.

“At Kumon, we believe children have unlimited potential to succeed,” said Kumon Director, Raj Honnaya. “My goal is to help each child develop strong academic skills, a love of learning and the confidence to excel beyond the classroom.”

Kumon is the world’s largest after-school math and reading enrichment program. Students of all ages visit the Kumon Center twice each week after-school. The result of this extra study is stronger independence and concentration, greater confidence and improved math and reading comprehension skills. Kumon’s learning method uses an individualized approach aimed to unlock the potential of children. Through daily practice and mastery of materials, students develop better study and test taking skills.

Kumon was founded in Japan in 1958, and has 26,000 centers in 48 countries and regions, serving more than four million students worldwide.
