Trumbull Business Network announces guest speaker for June 14 meeting

On Wednesday, June 14, the Trumbull Business Network (TBN) will host John Moffitt of Elvin Marketing. Moffitt will be discussing how marketing on the internet can help improve your company’s overall exposure on the internet. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) will be highlighted in the discussion.

All interested parties are welcome, however seating is limited.

The meeting will be held at the Helen Plumb building, 571 Church Hill Road, from 7:30-8:30 a.m. A light breakfast will be provided.

TBN is a group of local business owners and professionals who meet every Wednesday at 7:30 a.m. The meetings (about 45 minutes on average) focus on sharing tips, problem solving, networking and, probably most importantly, education. At most meetings, a TBN member will lead a 15 to 20 minute discussion to educate and inform the other members about his or her field of expertise.

TBN also invites outside speakers. Recently, Nicole Carrasco of Paychex discussed her company’s solutions for many small business owners’ needs that go beyond payroll. Instead of merely receiving sales pitches, TBN’s members learn such things as:

  • What types of provisions should be in a business owner’s contract

  • Why it is important to make sure that birds don’t build nests in your dryer vent

  • The differences between different dental procedures that sound like the same thing, but have different advantages/disadvantages and costs

  • The best way for a small business owner to procure a bank loan

  • How to read your electric bill and determine whether you are overpaying

  • The types of branded corporate “swag” that can make you money when you give them to customers

  • How properly to classify people who work for you as employee vs. contractor

  • The pros and cons of different types of life insurance products

  • What to look for in your home wiring to avoid fires

  • Inexpensive methods to improve your computer security and avoid being the victim of phishing or malware

Meetings are open to the public, and people who are considering membership are always welcome to attend a few sessions before making any commitments financially (even though dues are modest).
