CT Fallen Heroes Memorial Tribute — The 12th annual Connecticut Fallen Heroes Memorial Tribute will take place on Saturday, Sept. 24, at Hubbard Park, Meriden. The Navy Band Northeast will perform from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., and the Gold Star ceremony will be at 1 p.m.

Free and open to the public.

Friday, Oct. 21

Haunted House and Trails — The Trumbull Nature and Arts Center (TNAC) is holding a Haunted House on the Trails event from 6-8 p.m. Children are welcome to attend, however registration is mandatory. To sign your child up, visit the TNAC website and find the sign-in sheet. Maximum of 65 children. Come to the Nature and Arts Center for a fun night of costumes and scares.

Saturday, Oct. 22

Trumbull High School 40th Reunion — The Trumbull High School 40th Reunion is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 22., 7-11 p.m., at Vazzy’s Four Seasons, 337 Kenyon St., Stratford. The ticket price includes open bar, DJ, heavy hors d’oeuvres, carving station, pasta bar, salad, and dessert. An after party is planned at the Trumbull Marriott, immediately following the reunion, starting at 11 p.m., at the hotel located at 180 Hawley Lane, Trumbull. Tickets are available through Wednesday, Oct. 19, (or until sold out), on Eventbrite.com for the price of $75. Early bird pricing of $65 per ticket is available now through Friday, Sept. 16. Household Hazardous Waste Collection — The Town of Trumbull Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day is from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at 307 Indian Ledge Park Drive. next to BMX Facility. This includes Trumbull, Monroe, and Easton residents. Must show CT driver’s license. For more information, contact Trumbull Public Works at 203-452-5070. Bring materials in original containers securely closed. Pack containers in sturdy upright boxes and pad with newspaper, if necessary. Never mix chemicals together. Never smoke or eat while handling hazardous materials. Leaking or broken containers must be contained. Do not leave vehicles unless instructed to do so. Household hazardous waste no longer needed, 20 gallons and 20 pounds per household. They reserve the right to refuse unidentified materials and large amounts of hazardous waste.

Until Monday, Oct. 31

Help find Boots in the Mystery Maze at Plasko’s Farm — Corn Maze at Plasko’s Farm, 670 Daniels Farm Road. The Monster Mystery Maze, features more than 1 1/2 miles of twists and turns in 4 1/2 acres. Alien monsters have overrun Plasko’s Farm and have taken their dog Boots. Find out which monster took Boots and where he is being hidden in the maze.

The corn maze is open to the general public every weekend from 10 a.m.-6 p.m., until Monday, Oct. 31. No reservation is required for the maze or tractor hay rides. The farm also offers an Educational Weekday Group Package (minimum 10 people or more). They are currently taking reservations for school field trips, youth/adult organizations, business outings and birthday parties. A portion of each admission is donated to St. Vincent’s Swim Across the Sound.

Trumbull Farmers Market — The Trumbull Farmers Market runs every Thursday through October, from 3:30-6:30 p.m., (some vendors will stay until 7). Pick up your weekly produce as the peak of the season for summer vegetables is here. Make plans for having dinner at the market or take out with several popular foods and ice cream for dessert. The market is located at the Nichols Improvement Association, (NIA), 1773 Huntington Tpke. Overflow parking is available at the Nichols United Methodist Church via Shelton Road.

Substance abuse support group — The Community Addiction and Recovery Education & Support (C.A.R.E.S.) Group provides a free, weekly drop-in support group for parents and other concerned family members whose loved ones are using or abusing mind-altering substances. Their mission is to provide education, support, access to resources, and hope for individuals and families struggling with substance abuse or addiction. Young Adult Support Group – A free support group for individuals 18-35 living with cancer. Support Group for Young(er) Women with Cancer (all types) — A free group open to any female under the age of 55 with any diagnosis of cancer, either newly diagnosed, in treatment, or out of treatment. Donations needed for animal shelter — Trumbull Animal Shelter, 324 Church Hill Road is in need of the following: Clay litter, rawhide chews, canned cat or canned dog food (any kind) and dog toys for strong chewers (for example, Kongs). Although it is appreciated, soft toys with squeakers and stuffing are discouraged, since the animals can tear them out and get sick. Cell phone recycling — B’nai Torah Nursery School, 5700 Main St., is continuing its collection of used/broken/unwanted cell phones, batteries and chargers from locations throughout the Trumbull area for refurbishing and distribution to women in crisis to call 911 in case of emergency. Collection boxes in Trumbull locations: B’nai Torah Nursery School, Trumbull Police Station, Old Towne Restaurant, Trumbull Library, Fairchild Library, CVS on White Plains Road, Minuteman Cleaners, Home Veterinary Services, and Guacamole Grill.

Donations sought — Donate your old but still usable clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, linens, pillow cases, blankets, curtains or stuffed animals. Grace Episcopal Church, 5958 Main St., now hosts a St. Pauly’s used clothing drop-off shed. Easily accessible, and located in the rear parking lot behind the church. Receipts are available at the shed for your charitable donation. Place donations in plastic bags and tie them up to keep clean and dry. Sikorsky Retirees Friendship Club — Meets the second Friday of every month at 1 p.m., at St. Joseph National Catholic Church, 1300 Stratford Road, Lordship, in Stratford. Al-Anon meetings — Al-Anon is a resource for family members and friends affected by alcoholism. Men’s Club — Tashua Knolls Senior Men’s Club welcomes new members; open to all men age 60 or older, no residency requirements. Club conducts weekly golf competitions, sponsors two bowling leagues during fall and winter months; 261-2069.
