Lunch ‘n Lecture

Need help with retirement? On Wednesday, May 11, two speakers from Wesley Village in Shelton, will offer some suggestions. Cathy Nickse is Coordinator of Spiritual Care and Carlene Rhea is Director of Mission Development. Come at 12:15 to Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St.,Trumbull. George's Hill meeting

The next meeting of George's Hill is on Thursday, May 12, at Unity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Road. George's Hill is a social engagement group for people diagnosed with early dementia and their caregivers. To register, call 203-374-8822 or look for the registration form at unityhillucc.org The group will meet the second Thursday of the month from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. A light lunch will be served from noon-12:30. Anyone with a wheelchair, or problems with mobility, may enter through the kitchen door in back as there are no steps to negotiate. We offer a fun and comfortable way for people living in the early stage of dementia and their caregivers to get out, get active and get connected with one another. The activities are shaped by Pastor Todd and promote social interaction and companionship. Art, music, games and exercise can enrich the lives of people with dementia because it allows for self-expression and engagement. Our Motto Is: You Are Not Alone.

Tag sale

Christ the King Church at 4700 Madison Ave., is having a tag sale on Saturday, May 14, and Sunday, May 15, in the parish hall downstairs. Hours for the sale are 9 a.m.-4 p.m., on Saturday and after all masses on Sunday. Parishioners are asked to donate items for the sale, but no books or clothing, please. Items can be dropped off from Monday, May 2-Thursday, May 5, or Monday, May 9-Friday, May 13, from 9 a.m.-3 .m., both weeks. Volunteers are needed for the drop-off periods and the tag sale itself. 7th and 8th graders can volunteer to work at the tag sale and receive credit toward their required service hours. Women's Fellowship Luncheon Out

On Tuesday, May 17, the Women's Fellowship of Unity Hill will hold their annual Luncheon Out at The Lazy Dog Tavern, 2505 Main St., Stratford (across from train station.) Festival of Tables fundraiser

On Thursday, May 19 at 1 p.m., a Festival of Tables fundraiser, sponsored by the Women's Fellowship, will be held at Unity Hill United Church of Christ, 364 White Plains Road. Cost is $5. Entertainment will feature the Festive Ringers Handbell Choir followed by sandwiches and desserts at tables decorated with the months of the year. Spaghetti supper and free concert

The final installment of the 2015-2016 spaghetti supper/concert series is set for Trumbull's Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St. (Route 111), on Saturday, May 21. It begins with their spaghetti supper including salad, beverage and dessert, at 5:30 p.m. This month's free concert will present Frank Mastrone, a veteran of numerous Broadway and off-Broadway shows. Drew Chorale

Drew University’s select chamber choir, Drew Chorale, is about to start a five-state tour.

Fourteen women and 11 men comprise the chorale, including undergraduate students and a high school choral teacher. Its director is Jason Bishop, assistant professor of music and director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Drew. It will be held on Saturday, May 21 at St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull, during 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass and at 5:30 p.m.

Father-daughter dinner dance

Nichols United Methodist Church will be hosting An Evening to Remember, a father-daughter dinner dance, on Saturday,, June 11, from 5-9:30 p.m. This semi-formal event is for fathers and unmarried daughters of all ages. “Spiritual Fathers” are also invited to bring “Spiritual Daughters.” Evening includes catered dinner from Marissa’s Restaurant (choice of prime rib or chicken cutlet), DJ by Dougie Jam Productions and a 5” x 7” photo by JC Carley Photography. Kids Club

Children in grades K-6 are invited to enroll in a new Wednesday-night Kids Club at Long Hill Baptist Church, 100 Middlebrook Ave., (near Middlebook Elementary School), from 7-8:30 p.m. Each meeting will feature games, singing and a Bible study. There is no cost to attend.

Parents are invited to join an adult Bible Study, which also meets on Wednesday evenings at 7.
