Patrons of Trumbull Nature and Arts Center seek board members

The Patrons of the Trumbull Nature and Arts Center (TNAC) held its annual membership meeting in January. Formed in 2011 as the private-sector partner of the Trumbull Nature Commission, the Patrons of TNAC serves as the non-profit management and fund-raising arm of the Trumbull Nature and Arts Center, located on the former Wagner Tree Farm property at 7115 Main St. The center offers environmental and art programming for children of all ages, as well as special events and community action days.

During the annual meeting the membership formally elected its Board of Directors which addresses the needs of the membership and leading the organization’s growth and development. These members oversee TNAC’s finances; grant making policies and practices; membership; strategic planning; and outreach.

Newly elected board members include: Kevin Malone (president); Scot Kerr (VP/treasurer); Kristine Saccone (secretary); and Rasa Malish, all residents of Trumbull; and Michael Daoust of Sun Products.

The Patrons are seeking applicants for several volunteer positions on its Board of Directors to serve beginning immediately. Applicants need not be Trumbull residents. As President, Kevin Malone put it, “We are fortunate to have a very active and engaged board of directors. However, the challenges that lie ahead in fundraising, community engagement, legal, and program development all require that we broaden our base of support, starting with the board, and extending to other key volunteer positions.”

The Board meets up to 12 times per year with meetings typically lasting approximately 90 minutes and being held at the TNAC facility at 7115 Main Street, Trumbull. Board members are expected to regularly attend and participate in meetings, as well as actively participate on at least one committee. Interest and experience in conservation, environmental education and fund-raising are ideal but not required. Areas of opportunity for new board members to serve include programming, volunteer recruitment and management, event planning, and fund-raising.

Applicants should submit a letter of interest and qualifications along with their resumé to Kevin Malone, either by post mail to: Patrons of TNAC, Inc, P.O. Box 110438, Trumbull, CT 06611; or by email to:
