The Lions Club of Trumbull will be celebrating 30 years next Wednesday, May 18.

The Trumbull Center Lions Club will celebrate its 30th anniversary at a gala dinner Wednesday, May 18, at Sal's Family Restaurant located at 630 Main Street in Monroe.

Appetizers and a cash bar will start at 6:30, followed by a buffet dinner and the presentation of awards to members who have given outstanding service.

The Trumbull Center Lions Club was originally formed to build the gazebo on the Town Hall green.

For over 20 years, the club has awarded annual incentive scholarships to 5th graders at all the town's elementary schools.

A service organization, the club supports many local causes and provides funding for eye research to prevent blindness. As part of that project, the club provides funding for the Lions Low Vision Centers in Fairfield and New Haven counties, including the newly opened one at Griffin Hospital in Derby. The club meets for dinner the first and third Wednesdays of every month.

Reservations for the dinner are $35 a person or $60 per couple and can be made by calling Mark at 203 452-7385.
