The Kennedy Center’s 49th annual Four Seasons Ball is one of the most elegant evenings, to be held on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Patterson Club, 1118 Cross Highway, in Fairfield. This not-to-be-missed event features a social hour with hors d’oeuvres at 7 p.m., followed by a full-course dinner, and dancing to Veronica Martell Entertainment with Jay Stollman.
The ball is being co-chaired by Robert and Barbara Scinto of Fairfield, while the chair of the Tribute Journal is Cara Schmid Mocarski of Shelton. Other members of the Tribute Journal committee include: John DiMatteo of Bethany, Samantha Levin of Brookfield, Dan Long of Cheshire, Martin D. Schwartz of Trumbull, and Jo Ann McMullan of Westport.
Proceeds from the ball will benefit The Kennedy Center’s residential services for people with disabilities, including: 16 group homes; a supported living option program, a family support and respite service, and the nationally recognized Caring for the Caregiver Program that offers support for parents of family members who are developmentally disabled.
The DiMatteo family will be honored as this year’s Tribute Journal honoree. The Kennedy Center has selected a family that not only believes and supports its mission, but has also helped raise awareness and funds for its residential group homes.
A Charitable Foundation was established by the DiMatteo Family’s Insurance Group in Shelton eight years ago as a tribute to their late father Anthony “Tony” DiMatteo, who was battling cancer at the time. The family started an annual Golf Tournament as the main funding source for the foundation.
Through the generosity of friends, family members and customers of the DiMatteo Group, support for the golf tournament has grown increasingly year after year. This annual event has raised more than $225,000 for various local and national charities. Some of the charities have included: The Kennedy Center, Juvenile Diabetes Association, St. Vincent’s Special Needs Services, Swim Across the Sound, the American Heart Association and Spooner House in Shelton.
“Our Family Foundation is committed to funding research, education and finding a cure for diseases that have touched the lives of our friends, families, clients and staff,” said John DiMatteo, President of the DiMatteo Group. Founded over 53 years ago, this family-owned and operated business specializes in insurance, employee benefits, income tax and financial services.
DiMatteo Group continues to maintain its foundation of integrity, personalized service and treating others as an extension of the family. “We have successfully transitioned the business from our parent and founders to the second generation with three siblings and two spouses, each of whom manages a key department,” said John DiMatteo. John specializes in financial planning and works with his wife, Kim DiMatteo of Bethany, a partner in the business. Loretta Lesko of Shelton, serves as vice president and is in charge of operations, while her husband Robert Lesko is a partner. In addition, Rosemarie Esposito of Shelton, is the agency’s treasurer, an enrolled agent and manages DiMatteo Group-Tax and Accounting Services LLC.
