For all those persons who aspire to dance like Fred (Astaire) or Ginger (Rogers) they will have that opportunity at a Dancing with the Stars fundraising event to be held Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Trumbull Marriott Hotel.
The event, that will benefit the Bridgeport Rescue Mission and The Center for Family Justice, is being orchestrated in cooperation with the Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Trumbull.
Each competitor will prepare with their instructor for 10 weeks prior and perform their routine the evening of Sept. 10. Community members are welcome to watch and cheer on the participants by purchasing a ticket for $100. This includes admission and dinner. The dancing events will be judged by former professional dancers and teachers and prizes will be awarded. Former Bridgeport Mayor Leonard Paoletta, who worked his way through Georgetown University Law School as a professional ballroom dance teacher in Bridgeport, will be the chief judge.
