Referrals are a powerful way to help a small business grow — just ask the members of the Trumbull Business Network (TBN).
A networking group for area businesses, TBN’s meetings are structured so that members can learn about and then refer each other’s businesses to potential clients. TBN’s membership is limited to one representative per profession, which prevents in-group competition when it comes to giving referrals.
This diversity of professions also allows for a larger network for referrals. Some members have been in business for years; others represent newer businesses just starting up or looking to further expand. Either way, members’ varying backgrounds and experience levels create a group with diverse perspectives.
TBN meets weekly, at 7:30 a.m., on most Wednesday mornings at the Helen Plumb Building on Church Hill Road. Meetings are segmented into three parts: First, each member delivers a sixty-second commercial, akin to an elevator pitch; second, one member gives a 15-minute presentation on a subject in their field; and finally, meetings conclude with kudos and referrals.
Ellen Karandisecky, dentist at A Winning Smile LLC, currently serves as president. She runs the weekly meetings as well as TBN’s informal gatherings.
