Middlebrook student hospitalized after being struck by car near school bus stop

A Middlebrook School student was struck by a passing car as she tried to catch her school bus this morning around 8:15 a.m. Police are still investigating the incident and no charges have been filed.

The incident took place on Main Street near Pinehurst Street. According to Captain Keith Golding, the 9-year-old had run into the road and into the path of a vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street as she attempted to catch her bus, which had stopped on Pinehurst Street. The vehicle had driven around a Greater Bridgeport Transit bus that had also stopped for passengers at the same location.

Trumbull EMS transported the student to Bridgeport Hospital, where she is being treated for a leg injury. All vehicles and drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with the investigation, Golding said. The investigation is continuing.
