Trumbull Post 141 scored an 18-0 victory over visiting Norwalk in American Legion Zone 4 action on Wednesday night.
Danny Ruchalski knocked in six runs with a two-run single, a three-run double and an RBI double for manager Jack McFarland’s squad, which improved to 9-1.
Norwalk dropped to 6-4.
Nolan Nemchek pitched all five inning in the mercy-rule shortened contest.
A righthander, he allowed two hits, walked four, struck out five, and stranded four runners.
Trumbull turned a 5-4-3 double play started by Andrew Lojko to Dustin Siqueira at second base to Vin DeRubeis at first in the third inning.
Catcher Alex Rauso threw out a runner stealing in the first.
DeRubeis had three hits and drove in three runs, as Trumbull banged out 16 hits against a pair of Norwalk pitchers.
Dave Cellini (RBI) had two hits.
Siqueira, Tyler Zikias (RBI), Jack Lynch, Lojko (two RBIs) and Nemchek (RBI) added base hits.
Rauso and Jake Teixeira had RBIs.
For Norwalk, Ryan Searles singled with two out in the fourth inning.
Chris Buzzeo had a base hit with one out in the fifth.
Trumbull scored four runs in its first at bat, with Ruchalski stroking a two-run single to cap the rally.
Post 141 added seven runs when they batted around in the second.
Ruchalski cleared the bases with a double inside the first base bag to make it 9-0.
Zikias followed with an RBI two-bagger to the fence in left and Cellini singled him home.
DeRubeis tripled to score Siqueira, who had walked, in the third inning.
Lojko singled him in and Ruchalski doubled Lojko home.
In a four-run fourth, DeRubeis had a two-run double, Teixeira a sacrifice fly, and Nemchek an RBI single.
Trumbull will visit Norwalk Thursday at Nathan Hale School for the third game in the series.
Post 141 will host Stamford for a doubleheader beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
They visit Stamford at Cubeta Sunday morning, then return home to play Westport in a 7 p.m. makeup game.
