Boys hockey: Trumbull opens with win over Watertown-Pomperaug

Trumbull’s Jake Liebowitz had two assists.

The Trumbull High boys hockey team opened its season with a 5-2 victory over Watertown-Pomperaug at Taft Mays Rink on Saturday.

Matt Mocker scored two goals and had an assist for coach Greg Maxey’s Eagles.

Mocker found the net twice, with assists going to Jake Liebowitz and Martin Birnbach, before Brady Jensen made it 3-0 with the assist going to Alex Jackel.

WP got on the board with Troy Harwell scoring the goal and John Biello getting the assist.

Eric McCabe got that goal back off a helper from Mocker.

Ryan Dunfee, assisted by Drew Mancini, and Jackel, assisted by Liebowitz, completed the scoring.
