Reverend Paul J. Carling, Episcopal Chaplin at Yale University and Rector at Trinity Episcopal Church in Trumbull will be the featured speaker when the Long Hill Garden Club meets on Oct. Monday, Oct. 24.
The meeting, held in the Trumbull Library Community Room begins at 11:30 a.m. It is followed by a “Gather, Greet and Eat” and the speaker will begin at 12:45 p.m.
The program is Gardening as a Spiritual Practice. Reverend Carling will describe some of his discoveries as he made the transition from an outcome and performance oriented leader of organizations to a contemplative gardener focused on living in the present moment. He will also invite members of the audience, wherever they are in their spiritual journeys, to share their experiences of how gardening can transport us, should we choose, from the day-to-day stresses of the 21 st century living to an oasis of peace and joy.
