Eighteen Christian Heritage School athletes and five coaches and faculty-chaperones departed Aug. 5 for an eight-day, three-city, cross-cultural journey through China.

A Chinese high school invited the Christian Heritage School boy’s varsity soccer team to play two friendly matches in China.

The cities the students will visit include Shenzhen in the south, where they play a friendly soccer match against a local soccer club, and Chengdu in the interior part of China, where they will play against an 8,000-student public school called Santai School with over 2000 spectators anticipated.

The team will finish their tour with a visit to the capital of Beijing to see Tiananmen Square, the Great Wall of China, the Birds Nest national stadium, the Water Cube national aquatics center and the Summer Palace.

“Our students are so excited about this opportunity,” said CHS Athletic Director John Egan. “We are particularly grateful for the generosity and hospitality of our hosts for fully funding this trip for us.
