Boys hockey: Foldesi’s goal leads Cadets past Lancers

Will Foldesi scored the tiebreaking goal midway through the third for St. Joseph when the Cadets defeated Notre Dame of Fairfield, 3-2, in Milford on Thursday.

Connor Hurley had the assist for coach J.R. Bria’s team, who improved to 10-9-1.

After a scoreless first period, Notre Dame’s Matt Carlotto gave the Lancers the lead at the 1:36 mark of the second. Tyler English and John Garvey had the assists.

Adam Usinger tied the game three minutes later, with Foldesi and Andrew Van Etten getting the assists.

Alex Coppola scored unassisted at 5:01 to put Notre Dame (9-10-0) back in front.

Foldesi from Usinger made it 2-2 at 7:20 of the period.

St. Joseph had 22 shots on goal to 21 for ND.

Ryan Wilson made 19 saves to get the win.

William Scovill had 19 stops for the Lancers.
