Regina Misercola, a freshman at Trumbull High School and the Trumbull Agriscience and Biotechnology Center, won second prize recently in VolunteerSquare’s high school essay contest.
Her essay, on what community service means to her, was selected among entries from students representing more than 20 high schools in Fairfield County.
Specifically, Regina wrote her essay about the volunteer work she does at the Shelton Historical Society keeping history alive.
According to a press release about the contest winners, Regina has decided to donate all of her cash winnings to the historical society to help pay for repair work after damage was done in a recent heavy rain storm.
